Baker County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention

Comprehensive Strategy in Baker County

WHAT IS THE COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGY?

The Department of Justice and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)
have developed a framework to guide communities through the step by step development of a strategic plan to address the problem of increasing juvenile violence. This framework is called The Comprehensive Strategy for Serious, Violent and Chronic Juvenile Offenders.

Why is Baker County Involved?

The Department of Justice and OJJDP identified Oregon as one of the states to receive this
Comprehensive Strategy.
Through the Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee(JJAC), OJJDP is providing federal level trainers to help implement this strategy in selected communities. Baker County has been identified as one of the six counties in Oregon and one of only forty-two in the United States, to receive training and technical assistance to implement the Comprehensive Strategy.

In Baker County, implementation of the Comprehensive Strategy is being spearheaded by the Baker County Local Public Safety Coordinating Council, chaired by Paul York.
